Dr. Shuibing He is a Tenured Professor in the College of Computer Science and Technology at Zhejiang University (ZJU), where he leads the Intelligent Storage and Computing Systems (ISCS) Laboratory. He also serves as Deputy Director of the Zhejiang Key Laboratory of Big Data Intelligent Computing, and Deputy Director of the Institute of Computer Architecture and Brain‑Computer Engineering at ZJU.
His research is driven by the vision of building next‑generation infrastructure for the AI era. His work focuses on Data‑Centric Architecture, Systems for AI, and Storage Systems, with a particular emphasis on hardware‑software co‑design for intelligent storage and computing systems to tackle the “memory and storage walls” in large‑scale AI computing.
Dr. He has been granted over 20 research projects from various sources, including the National Science Foundation of China, the Key Project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China‑Regional Innovation Development Joint Fund, the National Key Research and Development Program, Major Projects of Zhejiang Province, and industry partners including Alibaba, Huawei, Ant Group, Sugon, H3C, and Inspur. He has published over 100 papers in top‑tier conferences and journals, including nearly 50 papers in CCF‑A‑ranked conferences and journals (top‑tier computer‑science publications), such as FAST, ASPLOS, MICRO, HPCA, EuroSys, ATC, SC, VLDB, TOCS, TC, TPDS, TOS, and TKDE. Open‑source code for several of his projects is available at ISCS-ZJU-code.
In addition to his research contributions, Dr. He is actively involved in the academic community. He serves as an Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Computers (TC) and IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Systems (TPDS), and as an Editor for CCF Transactions on High Performance Computing (THPC). He has held key roles in academic conferences, including Program Chair for NAS2024, General Chair for ChinaSys2024, and Program Committee member for HPCA, ICDCS, SRDS, ICPP, IPDPS, and CLUSTER.
His work has been recognized with numerous honors and awards, such as the First‑Class Prize for Science and Technology Progress of Zhejiang Province (2023, 2024), the World Internet Conference Awards for Pioneering Science and Technology (2025), the First Prize of Invention and Entrepreneurship Achievements from the China Invention Association (2025), the Computing Power China — Annual Breakthrough Achievement Award (2025).
Dr. He serves as Convener of the Intelligent Computing Cluster Sub‑group, National Working Group on Intelligent Computing Standardization, participating in the formulation of 2 national standards and 2 international standards. He holds over 50 granted invention patents and 10 software copyrights. His students have achieved distinguished results in the ASC Student Supercomputer Challenge, National University Information Storage Technology Competition, and received the ACM ChinaSys and Zhejiang University Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Awards. Several alumni have been awarded competitive talent programs such as Ant Star Program and Tencent’s Azure‑Cloud Program.
Dr. He is currently seeking Master’s, Ph.D., and Post‑doctoral candidates interested in intelligent computing, AI systems, storage systems, and computer architecture research. Prospective candidates are welcome to contact him with their CV.
